Dr Carol Bond (Carol) was inducted on 28th October 2020 with the classification “Energy Infrastructure”.
Carol was born in Chicago (USA) and educated at the University of Queensland. At UQ, she earned a Master of International Studies (2009) and a PhD in Political Science (2014). Upon conferral of her degree she began a program of research and teaching at the University of Queensland Business School. Since 2019, Carol moved to RMIT University’s College of Business and Law where she teaches management practice and researches social and policy aspects related to the energy sector.
Before moving to Australia in 2007, Carol had a long history of service in the non-profit sector. She is an experienced fundraiser and program development officer in creating opportunities for vulnerable people to have a fair go. Agencies she worked with include the YWCA and the Red Cross as well as Anglican church-based charities.
Both Carol and her husband Gilbert served as Council Members at Indooroopilly Uniting Church during their 11 years in Brisbane. In this role, they volunteered to help the Asylum Seeker & Refugee interest group. They also led workshops and small events focused on topics related to Christian Reconciliation and Peace Building initiatives.
Carol and her husband, Gilbert, have two children and as a family, the Bonds love to cook produce from their garden and have really enjoyed how well fruits and vegetables proliferate in Melbourne. Carol grew up sailing on Lake Michigan and continued her love of surf and sails on Long Island Sound when she lived in the New York area. She looks forward to sailing on Hobson's Bay at some point.
Carol is proud to be a third generation member of Rotary International and looks forward to being an active member of the Rotary Club of Melbourne.
