WE HELPED WOMEN and CHILDREN in NEPAL with COVID

The Rotary Clubs of Albury, Macedon Range, Kathmandu and North Sydney also contributed to the project. The hospital secured a virus testing machine from the Nepal Government but did not have a lab that met testing and biohazard secure standards.

The lab was completed in less than four weeks and put into immediate use. “Nepal has struggled to prepare adequate lab facilities, secure reagents to perform tests, and supply personal protective equipment to front-line health workers. Hospitals have also lacked adequate supplies of ventilator and other facilities to cope with this pandemic” reports project coordinator, Rajendra Gautam.

The new hospital lab will help health professionals in the fight against the pandemic with around 100 suspected patients getting the benefits of rapid testing each day.
