MEET OUR NEW MEMBER - HELEN MOYLAN

Helen Moylan was inducted on 13 January 2021 with the classification Archival Services – Archivist.

Helen was born in Featherston, New Zealand.  Her primary and secondary education were at six different schools due to the peripatetic nature of her father’s work.   She completed a Bachelor of Arts at The University of Melbourne, and later completed a Graduate Diploma of Archives and Records Management at Monash University in 1993, followed by a Master of Cultural Heritage at Deakin University in 2006.

She has worked in schools since the 1990s, establishing archives at Lauriston Girls School and Melbourne Girls Grammar School and engaging as a consultant with other private schools.  She co-designed and is a consultant with ArchivAll, an archival database designed for small institutions.

Helen is the mother of four daughters and has five grandchildren.  She enjoys reading, art, music, films and travel, as well as entertaining family and friends.

Helen is a member of the Lyceum Club and served on the Board for 10 years.  Her two-year term as President concluded in November 2019.  She has been a member of The Queens Fund, a philanthropic trust for women and children, for 28 years, and has served as Honorary Secretary, Honorary Treasurer and Chair.  She is also a Trustee of the Christ Church South Yarra Music Foundation.  She is a member of Toorak 1 Group and is currently exploring the many opportunities presented by membership of the Rotary Club of Melbourne committees.
