REFLECTION: BARBARA YERONDAIS 12.1.21
"Whilst thinking of what positive ideas to present for the new year, following a challenging 2020, A song came on the radio, which started me thinking. Those of you older than me will know it well.
It goes like this:
“You can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometime, you just might find, you’ll get what you need”
So let me share my thoughts:
- In a time of record homelessness, I’m grateful for my home
- When many of the worlds population doesn’t have safe clean drinking water, even in times of drought we have safe clean drinking water
- More than 3 billion people – that’s more than half the world’s population live in extreme poverty – I’m grateful to have a job and some money in the bank
- More than 800million don’t have enough to eat, I’m grateful to have plenty of fresh and good food
- I am grateful for my family and friends who love and support me
- I am grateful for good health and will never take this for granted, and
- I am grateful for the mistakes I have made and the lessons I have learnt
So as we start the new year, I urge us all to practice gratitude, smile and share with those who don’t have what we have.
