At the District Changeover recently (Saturday 10th July), Bob Fels received The Rotary Foundation’s highest honour: The Distinguished Service Award for his legendary local and international work, including his two, 3-year terms of service on the International Peace Centres Committee, and for mentoring 41 successful Peace fellow candidates from District 9800.
At the Changeover Rob Helme, received the Robert M. Fels Peace Award for 2021, for his work on the District Foundation Peace Committee. Rob has built on the achievements of Bob Fels to keep District 9800 at the forefront of the Rotary Peace Fellowship Program.
Ruth Carlos Martinez received the Service Above Self Award from Rotary International. Rotary’s highest honour recognizes Rotarians who demonstrate Rotary’s motto, Service Above Self, by volunteering their time and talents to help others. The award is internationally competitive, and is granted to no more than 150 Rotarians worldwide annually.
A number of District corporate partners were also recognised with a Paul Harris Fellow Recognition acknowledging those who have given generously to support our District including Scalzo Foods - accepted by Quin Scalzo.
