The AFL pulled it off again, completing an uninterrupted season. It was a difficult year for tippers with drawn out rounds, compressed rounds, late changes to venues, late team announcements and the home ground advantage often problematic. However, the cream still rises to the top and the usual suspects continued to shine. Spencer Bock started well and held his nerve to be the overall winner.
Thanks to everybody who joined, played and endured a season when rounds started and finished on any day of the week. It was hard to keep up, but a lot of fun in the end.
We had 114 tippers which was similar to last but we lost generous sponsor, Dixon Advisory from previous years, due to the uncertainty of the competition continuing. Rotary Footy Tipping raised $2,800 for the Health and Ageing Committee who will spend the funds on a Christmas outing and lunch down the Peninsula for hard-pressed and isolated folks. It’s an iconic Rotary Melbourne initiative which has been going for decades. Early next year I will be asking you to sign up for Footy Tipping 2022 so this important work can continue. The tipping will be less chaotic but just as much fun. Heartfelt thanks to our sponsors, Phil & Jane Endersbee’s Wilderness Wear.
