Last week the Around the Bay Silent Auction was finalised. Thank you to all those who donated the 27 auction items – obviously we would not have been able to hold this event without prizes and the generosity of those who donated them
Donors were - Trevor Nink, Reg Smith, Sofitel Hotel, Chris Wang, Phil Endersbee, Janet Wang, Richard Skinner and Ari Talantis, Quin Scalzo, Robert Fisher, Clive Weeks, Rosemary Nixon, Norman Taralrud Bay, Russel Board, Alan Trumble and Peter Dakin
Thanks also to all those who bid on the items – there were almost 100 individual bids so plenty of interest across all items
The Silent Auction raised a total of $6241 which is a great result and about 20% more than we raised last year. This will be a big boost to the annual support we provide to The Smith Family’s Learning for Life program. A program that has been very important over the last few Covid impacted years. We will be scheduling a handover to The Smith Family in the next month or so - perhaps we will be able to do this in person?
From an administrative perspective winning bidders have been contacted and will hopefully be working through the logistics of collecting their items. This will be a bit more complex than in pre Covid days but hopefully it will all happen in a reasonably efficient fashion.
Thank you all once again for your support – hopefully next year the Around the Bay event can get back to normal. Bicycle Network were expecting large numbers for this year's cancelled ride so if things are back to normal in 12 months there are likely to be lots of eager cyclists signing up. We will be back in touch next year and hopefully the first Sunday in October will see RCM riders, SAG wagon drivers and route marshalls joining other Melbourians for the 2022 Around the Bay ride
