When first staged by the Hush foundation in 2016, the Gathering of Kindness (GoK) was run in person, engaging the health care community and interested community participants in interesting events bringing together dramatic performances, music, and medical experts to explore creating health care services that exude kindness. But the pandemic has changed in its 5th and 6th years that last year and again this year the event will be conducted digitally.
The advantage of the digital format is that the event brings in speakers from around the globe, and opens up the Gathering of Kindness events to much larger national, and international audiences.
Rotarians Are Welcome
Rotary Melbourne has partnered with the Hush Foundation and GoK since 2019, which is designated as a R100 Project. Rotary brings to the partnership community connections that extend the reach of the annual Gathering of Kindness program. Hush values highly the impact and difference Rotarians make within our community.
While this is a healthcare event (for those working in healthcare), it is open to the broader community as well - to patients, carers, families and the general community - knowing that the lessons Hush is learning about improving healthcare and the healthcare experience for all, are very much opportunities for any workplace and community group to also benefit from.
The GoK theme this year is ‘Community’ given the community impact of the year that was, and the year we’re experiencing currently.
Community has never been more important, and if this time has taught us anything, it is that we’re better together. This year’s event is about finding ways to unite, to take care of ourselves and each other, so that together, we can provide the best, safest and highest quality care and support to our community.
This year’s Digital Gathering of Kindness features four 1-hour interviews and panel presentations. The program is shown below.
