Reflection by Philip Cornish 24 November

Greetings from the beautiful lands of the Yorta Yorta people where I am currently working with Kaiela Arts, a community managed indigenous Art Gallery co-located with the new Shepparton Art Museum. No wonder then that I am thinking of following up with the mention by our Mayor last week about the creative industries in Melbourne and the near regions.

We have much to enrich our perspectives and nourish the soul. I am privileged to working in a physical space which the Victorian Minister for Arts at the opening of the precinct on Saturday described as one of the most significant indigenous arts space in the world. We don’t need reminding that the creative folks need our support after a long time spent at home.

For the chance to experience the work of these creatives, in the great reawakening city I am most grateful.

Thanks
