Members who missed the evening meeting on 9 February might like to take a look at this lively and informative meeting delivered by the Evening meetings team. Check it out from this link: https://youtu.be/B1Ok8zJ-q24
Emma Herd, Ernst and Young’s Partner in Climate Change and Sustainability Services joined us on Zoom from Sydney and delivered an outstanding overview of the rapidly evolving corporate thinking on environment sustainability and the accompanying investments decisions this involves. Key questions she addressed included:
- The strategic framework used by investment managers to factor in the environmental credentials of companies;
- The role of superannuation funds in delivering investment returns whilst respecting member wishes for ethical investment;
- Fund managers shifting focus by moving away from traditional assets to those that are likely to be the most productive in future economic activity;
- Negative and positive examples examples of companies responding to the requirements of investors environmentally sustainable management and investment decisions; and
- The shifting balance that began with Governments, now accelerating dramatically in the environmental decision making of companies and their boards.
This presentation is a “must see" for those among us that want to understand the rapid emergence of active environment sustainability action by corporate Australia.
