A Question of Principle and Integrity vs Rules
Many times in the last year, the world was faced with challenging times, a magnitude of disasters and the pandemic.
The importance of integrity comes to the fore, in our personal life, business and more so in Rotary International, where it is exemplified, in “helping those less fortunate than yourself.”
A basic rotary guideline is the Four Way Test, by Herbert Taylor, which reads “Is it fair and beneficial to all concerned ?”, and serves as a strong reminder as we Rotarians, pursue Rotary’s goal of “doing good to the world.”
However, we sometimes hit a bump in the road, where Rotary rules stringent as they are, need to be revisited
to allow us to “help those less fortunate and thus, do good in the world”, if we are to remain focused on a positive outcome.
I quote Charles Kennedy, “The point never to lose sight of, is, to be guided by the correct thing, as it is the only way to retain our integrity.”
Gods Blessings, keep safe all.
