The Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show will return to the Royal Exhibition Building & Carlton Gardens on 30 March to 3 April 2022.
Travellers Aid Australia (TAA) and Rotary Central Melbourne (RCM) will support the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show by making the event more accessible and inclusive. Our objective is to provide people experiencing mobility challenges related to age or disability with the confidence to participate and engage in the event. This is the first time that this level of service has been provided to this event and we are keen to use this opportunity as a learning experience for TAA, RCM and IMG Events.
TAA will set up an onsite Mobility Equipment Hire Service providing wheelchairs for hire. We will have a marquee set up close to the event entry. DIK have agreed to loan us the mobility equipment during the event. A nominal fee will be charged to participants for the use of equipment while at the event.
The service will be operated by TAA with the support of RCM members and friends, with the proceeds split between the two organizations. If this pilot is successful, we may be able to offer the service at future CBD based events.
We are seeking volunteers to support this initiative by working on the stand for a 4.5-hour shift, either 8:30am to 1pm or 1pm to 5:30pm. Friday night evening shift is also available.
