Last Week's Meeting Wednesday 23 March

Our 5th In-person meeting as a Club for 2022 will go down as one of the highlights on our meeting calendar.

We witnessed the presentation of a Paul Harris Fellow Award to Ken Badenoch whose efforts resulted in funding for the Welfare of the Young Committee amounting to $330,000 over the past 17 years.

We presented a Certificate of Recognition and thanks to Office Manager Jo Mavros who in March 2022 has clocked up 15 years exemplary service as Rotary Melbourne’s office Manager.  In an astonishing coincidence (really folks - we're not kidding) Jo and her family enjoyed a celebratory meal at  the Society Restaurant (the new and luxurious version that opened in troubled circumstances in 2021), for which she was presented a gift certificate alongside her citation and a compendium of Past President Tributes. These can be read later in this bulletin. Bravo Jo.

The third highlight was a brilliant presentation from Emma Germano, President of the Victorian Farmers Federation.  Emma may not look like a sun burnt old gent wearing a flannel shirt but she spoke with authority and splendid insight into the real problems facing rural Australia including prioritising productive agricultural land-use under pressure of urbanisation; labour supply and labour costs; food security and water supply.  This was a must-see presentation and the the video recording is available to all by following this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9qISX0dGeM

Please join us as we return to our weekly lunches under the excellent COVID Safe practices of the Sofitel.
