As a child growing up in country Queensland Lisa Millar dreamed of living a big life. She achieved that with her ambition of becoming a foreign correspondent but first she had to fight a debilitating fear of flying that threatened to derail her plans. By the time she finished her final days as one of the ABC’s longest serving overseas correspondents, she had witnessed the worst that humanity could bring. And she grew to understand the toll that that would have.
Lisa Millar is the cohost of ABC News Breakfast, guest presenter of Back Roads and the voice of the hit ABC series, Muster Dogs. She began her career in regional Queensland 34 years ago and since then has worked around the world for online, radio and television. She completed three foreign postings, reporting from 40 countries and was bureau chief in Washington DC and London between 2011 and 2015. She won a Walkley Award for investigative reporting and was a director on the board of the Dart Centre for Journalism and Trauma for 10 years.

The Club's Annual Service to Seniors Award will also be made, to a person whose outstanding service for seniors in a voluntary capacity is judged to have made a positive difference to the lives of seniors, at this meeting.
