Club President 2022-23

Club President 2022-23

With a heavy heart I write to inform you that as a result of illness and the need to give priority to her recovery and personal well-being, President-elect, Bev Brock has advised me that she is unable to take up the post of President for the Rotary year commencing on 1 July 2022.

Our Club is consequently faced with the urgent need to appoint an alternative candidate at short notice.

In anticipation that Bev may not be able to take up the post of President, given the severity of her illness the Nominating Committee reconvened in March and April and has formally nominated Adrian Nelson for the office of President in 2022-2023.

Consistent with Article 33, Section 7 (c) which deals with this circumstance, this advice is to inform all members of Rotary Melbourne that:

  1. Adrian Nelson is the Rotary Melbourne member nominated as President Elect 2022-2023.
  2. Members wishing to nominate for Presidency are invited to submit nominations duly signed by themselves and two Rotary Melbourne members of good standing. Completed nomination forms must reach the Honorary Secretary, Russell Board no later than 5pm on Monday 23 May 2022.
  3. If one or more additional valid nomination is received an election by secret ballot will be conducted the at Club’s regular meeting on 25 May 2022, and the result announced at the conclusion of that meeting.
  4. If no further nominations are received by the due date and time, Adrian Nelson will be confirmed as President Elect for 2022-2023 and members will be advised formally by email of this outcome.

I trust you will understand the necessity for an expedited election process to give the elected member as much time as possible to prepare themselves for the role of Club President.

Please join me in thanking Bev Brock for her exemplary service to Rotary Melbourne and wishing her well for recovery from her illness.

I look forward to your company when we pass the baton of presidency to the duly elected member on 29 June 2022.

Yours in Rotary Service.

Reg N Smith OAM

President 2021-22
