The Rotary Melbourne is honouring World Environment Day with its partners, the Sofitel & the City of Melbourne.  Rotarians across Districts 9800 and 9801 are warmly invited to attend this showcase event which raises funds for the non-profit food rescue charity Second Bite.  In addition, the luncheon highlights the 7th Pillar of Rotary Internationalthe Environment – and emphasises how Rotary is working with community groups and government organisations to make a difference for a more sustainable world.

Join us for an in person only lunch for this fundraising luncheon which features a celebrity panel discussion to raise awareness of how we can reduce food waste to benefit the environment. The 100% carbon offset menu will be co-designed by celebrity chef Matt Preston.  Panellists include Lord Mayor Sally Capp, Dr Sandro Demaio, Ms Abiola Atejomobi, Second Bite CEO Steve Clifford.  The event will be moderated by the very distinguished Professor John Thwaites, former Deputy Premier of the State of Victoria.

A portion of the ticket price plus the proceeds of the raffle will support the vital work of SecondBite.  The raffle features a collection of prestige wines, a night for two at the Sofitel, a high tea for two at Chateau Yering, and other prizes. All raffle proceeds will go to Second Bite while each event ticket purchased will provide 75 meals for vulnerable Victorians.  You may purchase tickets for individuals or consider sponsoring a table of 10.

An estimated 30% of all food produced globally is lost or wasted every year.

Rotarians are a practical canny lot and partnered with SecondBite very early on in their development to correct this statistic.
