Rotary Melbourne has become the first Rotary Club in Australia to achieve carbon neutrality by calculating and offsetting its carbon emissions.
Garry Fowler will speak about the development of the Club Carbon Calculator which can be used by any Club in Australia and New Zealand to estimate their emissions.
He will demonstrate its implementation by walking through the process to calculate Rotary Melbourne’s emissions for 2020-21.
The Club has now purchased carbon credits to offset its 20-21 emissions. The proceeds of these credits go towards supporting a social enterprise in East Timor, that supports the environment through the regeneration of forests.
The 2021-22 Environmental Sustainability Award will be presented to Phoebe Gardner & Alexander Arnold from Bardee.
