World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is commemorated each year on 15th June to highlight elder abuse which is a growing problem of ageism and inequality in our society. Elder abuse is any act which causes harm to an older person and is very often carried out by someone they know and trust such as a family member or friend. The abuse may be physical, social, financial and psychological and can include mistreatment and neglect. Rotary Safe Families has made a powerful film which highlights the issue of elder abuse and the importance of addressing it where it is witnessed occurring in a family or non-family situation.

The ~20 min film can be viewed HERE.
