Several years ago, Katie Wilford came from Iowa to Melbourne under the Rotary Global Scholar program, supported by our District 9800 and one other, and she has enjoyed maintaining her connections with Rotary, as you can see from her greeting our upcoming District Governor Amanda Wendt at the recent RI Convention in Houston. In 2019, she completed a Masters of Education degree at the University of Melbourne with a 6,000 word research paper on the topic: “What are the embedded intentions regarding Koorie peoples in Victorian education documents?” Her findings indicated visions of normalisation and reconciliation. Outside of her studies, she was actively involved as a volunteer at DIK and Missionaries of Charity.
Right now, Katie serves as Public Image Chair, Co-Foundation Chair and Newsletter Editor in Rotary Linn County, Iowa. She is President Nominee for 2023-24. For her District 5970, she is Interact and Rotaract Committee Chair. Professionally, Katie teaches secondary mathematics at Clear Creek Amana High School, Iowa City (where the actor Aston Kutcher went to school).
We look forward to welcoming Katie back to Melbourne at the time of next year’s Rotary Convention.
