District 9800 DG Changeover Event Saturday 25 June

Over 200 Rotarians from around the District witnessed the passing of the District Governor baton from Dale Hoy to Rotary Melbourne member, Amanda Wendt, and parents and a couple of life-long friends travelled from Brisbane to attend.

Entertainment was beautifully performed by the Australian Women’s Choir, which inspired many Rotarians to stand up and dance.  Rotary Melbourne member Ian Hamm delivered an impactful Welcome to Country.

Dale celebrated the diversity of projects delivered by all Rotary clubs in the District.

Over 35 Rotary Melbourne members and guests attended, and heard Amanda outline her aspirations for the coming year, touching impact, reach, engagement and adaptability.

Amanda took us through her plans for 2022/23, which of course includes the May 2023 RI Convention in Melbourne which already has nearly 10,000 early bird bookings.

  • To connect with younger volunteers,
  • Draw people willing to volunteer to serve in Rotary projects and convert their participation to membership,
  • Develop community leaders and raise funds; whilst
  • Growing clubs that make a difference in the community

Amanda highlighted plans for a specially designed District Conference scaled within one day alongside the RI Convention, at which RI President Jennifer Jones will be a major keynote speaker.

Amanda’s year as DG is off to a great start and her changeover event was impressively supported by Rotary Melbourne Members, who made up the largest Club group in attendance.

The event was recorded and we will alert members when the recording becomes available.
