The Axle Award Trophy is designed to embody the Hub of the Rotary Wheel. It was inaugurated in 2004 by Past President Bob Glindemann. The Award is made to a Rotarian who, during the Rotary year just past has given a little extra in Service Above Self – it is known as the Axle Award.
Rotary Melbourne is honoured to present the 2022 Axle Award for his indefatigable service as Director and championing the Young Achievers’ Award.
Professionally Iqbal is an Information Technology Consultant. And was inducted into the Club in December 2008.
As a member of the Rotary Melbourne Board since July 2020 Iqbal has been a diligent custodian of the Youth and Vocational Service Directorate.
At the same time he continued serving on the Vocational Service Committee where, he has over the past 5 years systematically taken the annual Young Achievers Award to a new level, making it a sought after Award from talented young Victorians from diverse backgrounds.
In addition, Iqbal has served as Group Captain of the Central #1 Group since 2015.
Iqbal’s commitment to serving in Rotary has been emblematic and epitomises the Rotary ideal of Service Above Self.
By his commitment to Service Above Self, Iqbal is well and truly a worthy recipient of the Award.
