Last week’s evening conversation with Cameron Glover, CEO, Interplast was a timely reminder of the marvellous work Interplast does in supporting the voluntary efforts of nurses and Plastic Surgeons delivering reconstructive surgery and changing the lives of people in developing countries in the Asia Pacific region and beyond. These efforts directly improve quality of life for the individuals receiving treatment, but also underpin the development of treatment capability and practitioners in host countries.
Cameron’s impressive presentation can be viewed by clicking this link: https://youtu.be/wP-wZRbG6yE. It highlights the agility of Interplast in pivoting its support services to digital support during the Pandemic lock-downs, but also highlights the importance of Rotary’s continuing strong support in funding this amazingly effective medical aid service.
Cameron also highlighted the cost effectiveness of treatments delivered by volunteers in host countries, at an average cost of just $1,000 per patient treatment. Do take a look at this one. The Interplast story, began with Rotary support in 1983 and is a tribute to many rotarians and professionals whose volunteer efforts and financial support have made Interplast one of Australia’s most important foreign aid initiatives.
