Annual Balwyn – Hawthorn-Kew Snooker Challenge Result

Last Thursday, sixteen Rotarians and guests enjoyed the “Annual Balwyn and Hawthorn-Kew Snooker Challenge” at the 183-year-old Athenaeum Club. This snooker event has been running for more than 18 years, … but no-one can remember exactly when it began.

Dinner in the “Presidents Room” was Hot smoked salmon mousse followed by Slow Roasted Gippsland Beef Eye Fillet, with fine wine. After dinner, the group adjourned to the Billiards Room, for cheeses, tea, coffee and club chocolates and the snooker.

The President is always special guest, with an unwritten rule that they are not on the winning team, HOWEVER, this year Pres Adrian and PP John Edmonds took the honours. Peter Davies and Bruce Davidson were runners-up.

Seven teams competed over four 15-minute rounds of Snooker. Finalists were John Edmonds and President Adrian with 54 points, and Bruce Davidson and Peter Davis with 50 points. Winners for the Night were John and Adrian 17 to 7.

Great evening was had by all.
