The trailer for the Balwyn Rotary Rotary Hoe (get it?) has a bit of background behind it. Murray Wilkinson had negotiated storage for the hoe in his neighbour’s garage, but with a maximum width of about 1.2 metres to allow for her other use of her own garage. That needed an unusual trailer if the hoe was to be stored on it, and we advertised for such a unit, or one that could be converted, amongst the Rotary community.
Jo Mavros, Secretary of RC Melbourne, answered the call and said she had a 6 x 4 trailer, used and fairly rusty, that she would be happy to donate to the cause. Clarke went and looked at it and found that though the thin metal parts were very rusty and the electrics were dodgy, the basic frame, wheels and tyres were sound and it was exactly what we wanted.
