Big Issue – Big Sell

PP Mary Barry was sure Rotary Melbourne members are all familiar with the Big Issue Magazine, designed as an opportunity for those who are homeless to become more self reliant by selling the magazine on the streets of Melbourne. This is also a program the RCM has had a long association with.

We have been presented with an opportunity to rekindle this association via, James Pullar a former RCM member, and strong advocate for the homeless by participating in the BIG ISSUE - BIG SELL project to raise funds to assist the Big Issue vendors who are still recovering for a tough few years due to COVID.

This means DG Amanda Wendt and President Adrian Nelson will have the opportunity to sell the Big Issue on the streets on 29thMarch to raise awareness of the current homelessness crisis in our city and to assist the current vendors. Location to be advised.

The Club is contributing $1000 via the MAHAH project with other Community Welfare Committee making personal contributions over and above the $1000.

Fortuitously the 29th March is a Wednesday so make sure that on your way here you buy a copy from Adrian or Amanda or from another vendor as you make your way here for lunch.  If you are not able to attend the lunch I would ask that all members buy at least one copy o the Big Issue during the month of March. This is truly a great cause and one the the RCM is always happy to contribute where we can.  So don’t forget BIG ISSUE - BIG SELL on Wednesday 29th March.
