Our Club’s evening conversation last week (Wednesday 15 November 23) was a stunning success.
It was attended by some 100 members and guests, and as President Chris remarked in his opening comments, many of these guests were from key elements in the EV supply chain and support infrastructure.
Focusing on “EV Myths Busted” the Panel skilfully moderated by Rotary Melbourne member, George Giamadakis comprised three recognised leaders in EV development:
Our three panellists quickly established their credibility on the uptake of EV’s in Australia. Starting with addressing the three most common myths (according to Google) about EV's:
1. Range anxiety
2. Battery longevity and
3. Possible grid overload
The entertaining and informative conversation went way beyond just these three myths, covering EV's in freight transport, buses, and agriculture, and addressing infrastructure issues such as access to charging in the street and rental apartment blocks, as well as the regulatory lag in building and vehicle insurance, frustrating diversity of standards and much more.
