Every 25th November marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and we are pleased that our DG Ron Payne in the first week of December is promoting Rotary SAFE Families and our Inclusive Communities Initiative to all 64 Presidents and Secretaries (District 9800) for them to alert Club members to our Rotary SAFE Families campaign. The current African Australian Inclusive Communities Initiative is a partnership between Rotary Melbourne and Rotary Hawthorn.
DG Ron is suggesting that Rotary Clubs publicise and view at least one of our six films whilst highlighting the importance of awareness in how to prevent family abuse, to anyone, anywhere, anytime.
You might note that Rotary SAFE Families Inclusive Communities Initiative is now recognised as a Rotary Australia program.
With more than 120 Rotary ambassadors and working relationships with Victoria Police, Changepreneurs, African House Shepparton, Ethnic Council Shepparton, Afri-Aus Care, we are making a difference in emphasising this “taboo” topic of family abuse.
There is so much work to do and we could not continue this work without the support and encouragement from Rotary Melbourne and Rotary Hawthorn and the many Clubs that quietly and efficiently showcase SAFE Families at their events.
Thanks to Rotary Chadstone/East Malvern who are providing our banners and printed resources to their End of Violence campaign on 1 December.
