Loss of two tireless and fearless advocates for young people

Rotary Melbourne were saddened this month with the deaths of two tireless and fearless advocates for young people, Joe Tucci of the Australian Childhood Foundation and Les Twentyman, founder of the Les Twentyman Foundation.

Joe was awarded Rotary Melbourne’s Vocational Service Award in 2020 as an advocate for indigenous children and a selfless leader in developing and implementing child-focused therapeutic programs and child abuse prevention campaigns.

Les, a Victorian of the Year, spent decades of experience as a social justice warrior, working in the streets developing expertise in youth homelessness, drug abuse, prison reform and social welfare. His Foundation’s youth support manager Jim Markovski was presented with our Sir John Reid Community Service Award in 2017.

Their legacies will remain forever as will the thousands of lives of young people they changed for the better.
