Welcome New Member - Andrew Morrice

Andrew Morrice was inducted on 27/11/2024 with the classification CEO – Information Technology.

Andrew was born in Melbourne and has lived in Ivanhoe for the past 20 years. Andrew has Bachelor’s degrees in both computing and business, a Master of International Business and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors program.

Andrew’s career began with Telstra. He studied part time and after six months converted to full time to complete his degree in Applied Science (Computing). He then followed a traditional path in the IT industry, starting as a programmer with a small company called Information Solutions. After a series of acquisitions and roll-ups, Andrew began working for Praxa Ltd, a software development and services company based in South Melbourne.

Andrew worked on a range of software development projects at Praxa while undertaking part time studies. He was promoted to lead Praxa’s library automation business unit which soon led to the beginning of his career with DRA Ltd, a US based company that acquired the business unit from Praxa to establish a foothold in the Australian market. Andrew then went on to work for DRA as the APAC regional manager prior to moving to the company’s HQ in St. Louis, Missouri with his family as Vice President of DRA’s international operations. Soon after, he was given the additional responsibility of DRA’s US domestic sales and marketing operations. A competitor (SIRSI Corp) later acquired DRA rolling both organizations into one creating the world’s largest library automation company. Andrew was promoted to lead SIRSI’s sales, marketing and international efforts globally. Visa requirements necessitated returning to Australia in 2004.

After returning to Australia Andrew held CEO positions for companies that specialized in complex software solutions primarily designed for the Defence Industry including Modeling & Simulation and Flight Scheduling. These solutions supported Defence decision making around the Joint Strike Fighter and the Wedgetail Airborne Early Warning and Control programs.

Since 2011 Andrew has worked as the CEO of Rutledge AV, Australia’s largest Audio-Visual Systems Integration business. A US private equity backed company – Diversified, acquired Rutledge AV in 2019. Andrew continued leading the rebranded Australian business until December 2023. The rapid onset of COVID following the acquisition created significant challenges.

Andrew is married to Yvonne. They have two children, Ashleigh and Aaron. Ashleigh is an equine veterinarian and works at Melbourne University’s Equine Hospital in Werribee and Aaron is a Victorian police officer.

Andrew has a Golden Retriever (Teddy) who keeps him fit, he enjoys bike riding and has completed the around-the-bay in a day twice and likes the idea of starting at Portsea! He is actively involved in a local community group – Yarraman, which leases land from Parks Victoria in East Ivanhoe for horse agistment. While hay carting is an essential element, he currently has a pass given his recent foot surgery (hence why he was seated during his induction). He also has a four-year-old grandson, Spencer, who brings great joy to his life.

Andrew is a member of the Kew – North Balwyn group and is a member of the Technology Committee.
