Rochester Rotary 60th Anniversary Dinner 23 November 24

Following postponement of the Anniversary Dinner earlier in the year Rotary Melbourne member Clive and Helen Weeks attended the celebration along with 100 plus others on 23 November in the Rochester Shire Hall. The hall was beautifully decorated with rotary memorabilia including dozens of banners from other clubs.

Many District 9800 clubs were represented, and local dignitaries- Shire Councillors and State Parliamentarians also attended.
HIghlights of the evening included:
  1. Membership of the club had reduced to only three with retirements and deaths, however four new members were inducted by DG Michael Lapina on the night - a fantastic result
  2. Heather Watson presented an Honour Board listing Paul Harris Fellows and Life Members to the club, including two new PHFs awarded on the night.
  3. Heather was honoured with a surprise life membership (with the result that her Honour Board will need to be updated immediately!) for 30 years of service to the club including 10 times as president and 10 times as Secretary – truly remarkable.
  4. A raffle with around 12 prizes was run with the proceeds to be donated to the End Trachoma project. Several hundred dollars would have been raised.
Thanks to Clive Weeks for providing this write up and to Alex Lapina for images.
