Welcome New Member - Anthony Austin

Anthony Austin (Anthony) was inducted on 4 December 2024 with the classification Law- Corporate.
Anthony was born in Accra, Ghana where his parents were living because of his father's work. He was educated in the UK at Stowe School and the University of Exeter, completing a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1985.He studied French language and Civilisation at the University of Paris (Sorbonne) and French private law at the University of Aix-Marseille.
After university and the college of law in London, Anthony completed articles with a large commercial firm in the City of London. He remained with that firm until emigrating to Melbourne with his Australian wife Megan in 1991. He completed a course to qualify as a Victorian solicitor at the University of Melbourne. After a few years in private practice in Melbourne he spent over 25 years as an in-house solicitor including 14 years with BHP.
Megan and Anthony have two children, Emily and Charlie. Emily is a secondary school teacher in Melbourne and is currently on parental leave after becoming a mother to Megan and Anthony's first grandchild Lachie. Charlie is working as a solicitor in London.
Anthony is recently retired and he and Megan live in Richmond. He has become involved as a volunteer with the Richmond Churches Food Centre. As a Francophile he has enrolled for 2025 in French classes with the Alliance Francaise in an attempt to revive his rusty French. Megan and Anthony enjoy travel and in recent years have done some lovely hikes overseas. They also travel to catch up with family. 
Anthony is a member of Toorak 1 fellowship group.
