Dr Patricia (Tita) von Matuschka was inducted on 26 March 2025 with the classification Economics – Macroeconomics.
Tita was born in Berlin and completed her secondary education in the United Kingdom before returning to Germany to pursue her PhD in International Finance at the University of Witten/Herdecke. Her research continues to focus on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and their role in fostering economic resilience, particularly in rural regions.
Her academic and professional journey has taken her across the globe, with significant research engagements in both Europe and Australia. She recently served as Chief Economist for a leading think tank and has now taken on a professorship, combining academic research with university teaching. In this role, she works closely with international students and is committed to inspiring the next generation of economists.
In addition to her academic work, Tita has served as a project management consultant in the energy sector and has contributed to policy development for both German and international institutions. Her areas of expertise include SME digitalization, sustainability, and economic transformation. She has shared her findings at numerous international conferences and is passionate about connecting academic insight with practical, real-world solutions.
Outside of her professional life, Tita has a deep interest in behavioral finance and psychology, and enjoys writing. She is also a passionate equestrian, actively competing in show jumping, cross-country, and polo. She splits her time between Europe and Australia, while her husband, Wolf von Blumröder, serves in the German military and is often deployed on international missions. Despite the challenges of a long-distance relationship spanning more than a decade, the couple shares a deep bond, a love for travel and nature – and a particularly endearing collection of cuddly otter toys. Together, they navigate life on two continents with resilience, humor, and warmth.
Tita is a member of several professional associations and has a longstanding commitment to social engagement, including work with children with disabilities and volunteering in emerging countries. For her, the Rotary motto "Service Above Self" is more than a statement – it is a personal conviction and a guiding principle.
She is delighted to join the club community and is looking forward to become active in the Committees.
Tita is a member of the Central 1 group.
