At the recent Thomas Baker Oration, hosted by Rotary Melbourne, we celebrated the power of long-term thinking—in science, in leadership, and in support.
Delivered by Professor Megan Clark AC, Chancellor of Monash University, the oration explored deep tech through a human lens—reminding us that some of the most profound innovations begin within the body itself.
Our Thomas Baker Fellow, Dr William Roman (left), joined Trevor Nink (Trustee, Baker Foundation, centre) and Director Professor Peter Currie (right) to reflect on the bold, curiosity-led research made possible through nearly a decade of support from the Baker Foundation.
Dr Roman is an EMBL Australia Group Leader, based at the Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute, and leads a team combining biology, engineering, and data science to explore how muscle repairs itself—and how we might better help it heal.
