Good afternoon, fellow Rotarians, partners, and friends.
Welcome to our annual Rotary Melbourne Changeover Lunch - a moment of reflection and renewal in the life of our club.
One of Rotary’s great strengths is its rhythm of leadership change. Each year, we pass the baton, not because the work is done, but because new energy and fresh perspectives help keep our mission alive and evolving.
As Rotary’s founder Paul Harris said in 1935:
“This is a changing world; we must be prepared to change with it. The story of Rotary will have to be written again and again.”
That reminder speaks to exactly why we gather here today - to honour the past, embrace the present, and prepare for a future shaped by fresh vision and continued service.
This changeover is more than tradition - it’s a celebration of continuity and the spirit of shared leadership. It reminds us that Rotary is not about any one person, but about all of us working together for lasting impact.
As we look back on the past year, we do so with gratitude for what we've achieved - and with excitement for what lies ahead under new leadership.
To those who’ve led, thank you. And to those stepping up, we stand behind you, ready to serve together.
Let’s enjoy this special occasion - and continue building a stronger Rotary Melbourne for the year ahead.
For good food, good fellowship and the opportunity to serve, we give thanks.
Thank you Adrian Nelson for the Reflection on Wednesday 25 June 25.
