Adam Zaccaria, Board Chair, Launch Housing has announce the appointment of Sherri Bruinhout as the new Chief Executive Officer of Launch Housing. Sherri brings more than 30 years of experience in driving innovation and challenging the status quo and within the housing, homelessness, and justice sectors, across both government and community services.
In her most recent role as Executive Director of Homelessness and Housing Support at the Victorian Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, Sherri was pivotal in scaling up Victoria's Housing First responses to address rough sleeping, making this response now the largest in Australia. She was instrumental in the establishment of Homes Victoria and ensured that addressing homelessness was deeply embedded within the Big Housing Build. Sherri's advocacy also secured significant capital investment for Victoria's homelessness facilities, leading to the highest level of supportive housing beds in the nation.
Sherri’s leadership is grounded in extensive frontline experience. She began her career as a youth homelessness support worker in Melbourne's western suburbs, before working at the front desk in IAP and doing overnight shifts in crisis accommodation. She has also held roles at Yarra City Council as social planner for affordable housing, and Melbourne City Mission where she served as Director for Homelessness and Justice Services.
The board conducted an extensive executive search and this appointment of Sherri as CEO comes at a pivotal time. As we mark 10 years of Launch Housing, we remain steadfast in our mission to end homelessness and optimistic about the opportunities to grow and strengthen our role in addressing Melbourne's housing and homelessness needs, despite ongoing challenges in the broader sector.
