Dr Vinod Kumar Goyal is current President of the Rotary Club of Ahmedabad Heritage, DC 3055, a city in India of approximately 7 million people. He has been a Rotarian for Padiar since 1982, was President for 4 terms of office, and was Assistant Governor. His son is also a Rotarian. Dr Goyal was keen to present to our club the flag from his own district and club RCA Heritage.
He contacted RC Melbourne as he and his wife Mrs Archana Goyal were visiting Melbourne briefly, unfortunately having tour commitments clashing with his hopes of attending our Wednesday meeting. We were able to connect him with Dr Suresh Marcandan, currently overseas, who in turn connected him with David Horgan, a new member of our club. Their meeting of Rotarians and their wives was very enjoyable, and forged new and ongoing links. Both are retired psychiatrists with ongoing strong interest in suicide prevention. They are planning to cooperate, using Dr Goyal’s long term involvement with Rotary International, and David’s no cost, no training award winning App "Prevent A Suicide : what to say”.
