An unexpected leadership transition delayed the Malvern Group’s traditional outdoor gathering to mark the start of the new calendar year. Happily, the event was able to proceed on Sunday 15 March 26, bringing members together for an enjoyable afternoon of fellowship.
Those attending gathered in the George Pepperell Pavilion, overlooking the tranquil setting of Gardiners Creek, where lively conversation flowed on a delightfully sunny autumn afternoon. They enjoyed the passing parade of active strollers, cyclists and joggers, and some local wildlife. The pavilion honours George Pepperell, a former Lord Mayor of the City of Malvern and a Board Member of MECWA Care, whose contribution to the community will be remembered by many of our current and past members.

Under Sue Smith’s leadership, the Malvern Group now looks forward to another active year of fellowship. Regular monthly fireside conversations will be complemented by whole-of-club events and one or more group dinners, continuing the strong sense of connection and camaraderie that defines this valued Rotary Melbourne fellowship group.
