Rotary Melbourne Arts Committee – Annual Architectural Walk
Conducted by Barbara Yerondais, Friday 28 February 2025
This year’s Architectural Walk focussed on the heritage architecture of the Northeastern Corner of the Central Business (CBD). Starting just outside the CBD at the Trades Hall Council building and the Curtin Hotel, a famous watering hole for the trade union and ALP notables since early in the 20th Century.
On a balmy night, Barbara treated more than 30 members and guests to viewing and understanding the heritage significance of 16 buildings and sites.
Barbara has kindly shared her extensive research notes which can be accessed by Clicking here.
Most of us were utterly surprised at the richness of Melbourne’s heritage revealed by Barb and few were familiar with every site we visited.
As is the tradition in the event, we dined afterwards at the Imperial Hotel and a memorable fellowship experience over good company and good food in a private dining room was enjoyed.
The event generated a surplus of $585 which will be added to the budget of the Rotary Melbourne Arts Committee.
Thank you to Barbara for your leadership of this marvellous Melbourne evening.
