We are about to send another container of desks and chairs to Timor and have space for a lot of children’s shoes which have to be sent overseas BUT they have to be taken out of the plastic as we always try to not send plastics.
For quite a few years now DIK have been sending school desks and chairs to Timor. Of late these have all been for new schools being built by Spend it Well. These are often in locations where the Dept of Education don’t have funds available and Spend it Well then build with the Dept’s approval. It is an excellent partnership.
They have several new schools under construction and we are about to send another container of desks and chairs for these.
In addition, the DIK store has recently received a very large supply of children’s ”Croc” style shoes that have to be sent overseas. We will put a large supply of these into this container as there is always a lot of “spare” space and it is very expensive to ship air!.
However, these shoes are all packed individually in plastic and we always remove the packaging before we ship overseas. So that is the task/
On Thursday 5th March at the DIK store in West Footscray, we plan to do just that with the intent to ship at least 2000 pairs for distribution in the schools with the desks and chairs.
Can you assist for a few hours on that Thursday to make sure that we have sufficient shoes to fill the spare space in the desks.
Please let me – Bob Glindemann know by email as soon as possible to make sure we have sufficient people for the task.
Its an easy task but very important as the shipping date is the following week.
So the task is to get rid of the packaging here.
The date will be Thursday 5th March starting from 9.30am
