Rotary Melbourne Assisting Homelessness project needs your help

Rotary Melbourne's Make a House a Home (MAHA) project provides new homewares to Launch Housing’s front line offices around Melbourne. We now need more volunteers to cope with the demands on homeless housing. Can you spare 3-4 hours on a weekday morning to shop at Kmart and then pack boxes at Chris Wang's warehouse in Sunshine, every 4-6 weeks? We would also appreciate you using your car to transport the homewares from Kmart to Sunshine. Please contact Richard Parker.

Launch’s case workers are delighted to have Rotary Melbourne supplying boxes of brand new homewares from bedding to kitchen accessories like toasters etc and bath towels. They allocate the boxes on a highest need basis to long term homeless clients when they can finally place them in a unit. After extended homelessness, these people typically own no homeware to set up afresh once they are housed. The boxes are also allocated to some victims of domestic violence who have left a dangerous situation with no household possessions.

Funded by the Rotary Melbourne budget, our “MAHAH” program is now in its eighth year and in that time has assisted more than 300 homeless people.

Launch Housing highly value what we do and the demand is real and ongoing.
