🌿 Meet Kat Sayers – Leading with Purpose in Sustainability

A highlight of last week’s lunch meeting at the Sofitel was the induction of Kathryn (Kat) Sayers, proudly sponsored by Bernie McIntosh. A leader in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Risk Management, Kat joins Rotary Melbourne with a passion for building a more sustainable, equitable world.
Kat joins Rotary Melbourne under the classification Risk Management – ESG and becomes part of Toorak 1 Group. In her remarks, she expressed her eagerness to contribute to Rotary’s service projects and community initiatives — a sentiment that perfectly reflects her life’s work.
Currently an Associate Director at National Australia Bank, Kat brings over 15 years of experience helping major organisations strengthen their social and environmental accountability. Her career — spanning roles at Deloitte, Ernst & Young and Bureau Veritas — has seen her advise on climate change, modern slavery, and responsible business practices.
“I wanted to join a community of people who use their skills to create real change,” Kat says. “Rotary embodies that — collaboration, compassion, and action.”
Kat’s Rotary journey began at the ForAMeal food packing event at RMIT in 2023, where she met her sponsor, Bernie McIntosh. “Kat is warm, capable and committed,” Bernie says. “Her expertise in ESG will be a great strength for the Club.”
Alongside her corporate work, Kat volunteers as Country Director for the International Youth Society Australia, empowering young people to engage with sustainability issues. She’s also an avid traveller — a passion that, she says, keeps her grounded in “the shared humanity that drives positive change.”
As she joins Rotary Melbourne, Kat hopes to contribute to the Club’s environmental and social initiatives while continuing to learn from the diverse community she now calls home.
“Rotary connects people who care,” she says with a smile. “And that’s exactly where I want to be.”
