International Service Survey: What You Told Us

We asked members to prioritise four initiatives to help clubs develop and deliver successful international projects. There was no runaway winner. Support was spread quite evenly across the board:

  1. Launch an online project matching register – 29%
  2. Establish a District International Service Support Network – 27%
  3. Create an online International Service reference library – 23%
  4. Hold an International Service Workshop – 22%

The message is clear. Clubs aren't looking for just one form of assistance. They want connections, expertise, practical information and opportunities to exchange ideas.

Members also offered excellent suggestions on what else District could do, and these will be reviewed closely over the coming weeks. One suggestion stood out: an overhaul of the International Service pages on the District website. That work has now been added to the program.

Although the Workshop came fourth, by the narrowest of margins, it is the right place to begin. Bringing people together builds relationships, surfaces project ideas, identifies obstacles and turns good intentions into action. The September Workshop is going ahead, with details to follow shortly.

There is plenty more to come.

A final thought: International Service doesn't have to mean a huge, complex, expensive project. It can, but it can just as easily be a simple, carefully targeted initiative that makes an extraordinary difference to a community. Find out more about upcoming and recent activities.
