One-off volunteering opportunities are a great way to get involved in Rotary — particularly for newer members looking for an easy, enjoyable way to meet other members while doing something worthwhile.
Our volunteer team for the Around the Bay rest area at Albert Park Reserve on Sunday 18 October is now full, with all eight places taken. Thank you to everyone who has put their hand up.
But we still need your help at the Melbourne Marathon on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October 26.
We are looking for around 10 more volunteers on each day to help operate the refreshment stand near the MCG. It’s a lively, energetic event with a terrific youth and community atmosphere.
And there’s an extra reason to put your hand up: every Rotary volunteer who participates triggers a donation to The Smith Family’s Learning for Life program, helping young Australians experiencing disadvantage stay engaged with their education.
So simply by volunteering, you’re doing two things at once — helping make one of Melbourne’s great community events happen, while generating financial support for a young person’s education.
Can you give us a few hours on Saturday 10 or Sunday 11 October? Why not ask a friend or two to join you?
Please contact Jim Orchard, Chris Wang or Trevor Nink using their email or phone details in the Club Directory.
Turn up, join in, have some fun — and make your time count twice.
