Did you know today, September 23rd , is The Equinox
Meaning today we will have equal days of sunshine and dark, and from tomorrow we will get more sunlight hours than darkness
Tomorrow, September the 24th is National Punctuation day
Friday will be National Daughter’s day
And Saturday will be National Pancake day and National Johnny Appleseed day
- But who cares,
- because this Saturday, we in Melbourne celebrate GRAND FINAL DAY so lets reflect on what the meaning of Australian rules football is to our city – and what it is to me.
In this magnificent city, football is the great ‘leveller’ - people from all socio economic groups and ethnicities follow a team, can discuss a
game and be expert commentators, be passionate or agnostic, but we can’t dismiss the affect it has on our city, we even have a public holiday to celebrate an Australian rules football game
So whilst we share a meal here this afternoon and celebrate fellowship let me leave you with these two words
GO PIES.
