Thomas Baker Oration 2026

On Wednesday May 13th 26 we will once again be celebrating the life of our esteemed 8th President, Thomas Baker, in the 10th year at the Oration in his name. Each year we seek an orator that embodies leadership in medicine, science, technology, entrepreneurial or philanthropy. This year we are honoured by Professor John Greenwood, Director of Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute, as our orator in the centenary year of the Institute's formation. Thomas Baker was instrumental in establishing the organisation which has become the Baker HDI.

Angus Mitchell Oration

Our annual Angus Mitchell Oration, named after our club's first Australian President of Rotary International, was first delivered at our 50th anniversary in 1971. Since then it has featured prominent orators, including Governors-General, Prime Ministers, Governors, Scientists, Ambassadors, leading business people and community leaders.

Thomas Baker Oration

The Thomas Baker Oration commemorates Past Rotary Melbourne President Thomas Baker and Philanthropist by showcasing Australians who have demonstrated leadership and innovation in the fields of medicine/science/technology and industry. Past Orators have included Australia's Chief Scientists, Nobel Prize Laureates, and other leaders and innovators.
