The event is The Big Serve Melbourne 2024 (“BSN”) will be held on Sunday, 27th October, 2024. This is a community day, designed to bring as many people together as possible to connect and have fun. It will be held at the Maribyrnong Park Tennis Club, Moonee Ponds. It is a community day, in support of mental health, any funds that are raised will go to three mental health support agencies, one of which is the Trauma Recovery Network Australia. The other two agencies have yet to be decided, there are so many that are worthy of support.

Rotary Melbourne member Bruce Livett attended the Rotary Club of Kelowna, BC, Canada, District 5060, while visiting his daughter and granddaughter (18 months) on Wednesday 28 August 24. On his return to Australia Bruce will be inducted into the Rotary E-Club of Western Australia (as an Honorary Life Member).
Clinical trial investigating new treatment for Alzheimer’s Disease
The Bionics Institute is seeking adults aged 50 to 85 years who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease to participate in a clinical trial investigating a new treatment using non-invasive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).
Rotary Melbourne welcomed and inducted Dr Dimitrios Salampasis on 28 August 2024 with the classification Innovation-FinTech. Dimitrios works is the FinTech Capability Lead and Senior Lecturer of Emerging Technologies and FinTech at the Swinburne University. In 2021 Dimitrios was the recipient of the 2021 Swinburne University Vice Chancellor's Engagement Award - Industry Engagement (Individual).

Rotary Safe Families welcome the announcment by the Australian Government to support family and gender-based violence. The funding includes $3.9bn from the commonwealth for frontline legal assistance services for families escaping violence, which will begin flowing from 1 July 2025. Another $351m from the federal government will go towards a five-year partnership for supporting specialist women’s and children’s services, as well as men’s behaviour change programs.
