From the 1920’s, Rotarians in Australia have flocked to Conferences and Conventions.
In the year Rotary was founded in Australia and New Zealand in 1921, delegates added the promotion of peace and goodwill to Rotary’s Constitution at the convention in Edinburgh, Scotland, the first held outside the United States.
The first Australian Conference was held in Melbourne in 1926 followed by a Pan Pacific Convention in 1935; attended by Paul Harris in his single trip to these parts.
1971 Sydney hosted the first Australian Rotary International Convention where RYLA was adopted internationally. Melbourne followed in 1993, Brisbane in 2003 returning to Sydney in 2014. Melbourne will host the 2023 Convention.
