Rotary Multi-District Impact Summit
Over 300 delegates from Districts 9800 and 9510 enjoyed this two-day conference in Adelaide over the weekend 17-18 May 25). Six represented Rotary Melbourne.
Some of the highlights were keynote addresses by Olympian Nova Peris OAM, Brad Chilcott AM (social change advocate), independent educationalist Andrew Plastow and Ian Steel OAM (founder of Kickstart for Kids). Rotary Peace Fellow Charlie Allen spoke about his experiences as a Rotary Peace Fellow and led an interactive Rotary Foundation session, where attendees explored practical ways of contributing to peace. There were opportunities to help pack 100 kg of lentils for the charity 'Puddle Jumpers' and to walk round Morphettville Racecourse for the End Polio Now campaign.
Rotary Melbourne member Dr Suresh Marcandan spoke about Australian Rotary Health, and incoming RI Director Jennifer Scott updated us on the regionalisation pilot.
Everyone left the Summit - led by two "M-Ls": DGs Michael Lapina and Marie-Louise Lees - with new Rotary connections made and memories of great music; motivated to return to their Clubs with new ideas for projects, and to continue serving their communities in the spirit of Rotary.
