Architecture Walk 2026, Friday 20th March, Metro Tunnel stations
40 Rotarians and friends gathered at the new ANZAC Station for an informative and interesting tour of the new Metro Tunnel project.
We were privileged to be led by Alan Nargessi, the Architecture Manager, and Minh X Le, Senior Advisor, Communications and Stakeholder Engagement, both from the Metro Tunnell Project, Victorian Infrastructure Development Authority, who presented the stations we visited and outlined the Architecture, art works and infrastructure and associated works that comprise this mammoth infrastructure works.
The works stretch well beyond the stations and tunnels, including the access links from the ANZAC station to Albert Park Lake and associated water sensitive urban design initiatives and landscaping works.
Other details presented included the arched tunnels and platforms structures of the Town Hall and State Library stations. The detailed internal services network for the stations platforms, and the innovative platforms use of allocated entrances to each train carriage, ensure safe travel.
The Club was presented with literature and pamphlets on each station, and are available for members who are interested.
