Celebrating what you’ve helped build, and what’s next

Next >

It’s been a while (sorry!), but we’ve been busy, change is in the air, and we have some exciting updates to share.

Thanks to your support, together our campaign has helped catalyse a statewide movement:

  • Advance to Zero now operates in 9 Melbourne communities - with more LGAs to be announced soon - and has supported more than 745 people into stable housingso far.
  • Independent economic modelling commissioned by Launch Housing shows aVictoria-wide roll out of the approach would save $88 million by 2035 across health, justice and homelessness systems.
  • More than 70 organisations have recently united in the Victorian Alliance to End Homelessness, focused on coordinated advocacy to expand the approach across Victoria. The Alliance (which includes many Melbourne Zero service delivery partners and community organisations) is cochaired by Launch and VincentCare, and is a powerful next chapter that reflects momentum you’ve helped build.
  • Our vision has grown from ending rough sleeping in Melbourne by 2030 to a statewide goal to end rough sleeping across Victoria by 2035.

What’s changing, and why?

We've reached a tipping point on the number of LGAs we're working in, thanks to the amazing support of philanthropy. We’re now switching up the campaign to focus on encouraging our State Government to help scale the approach statewide. We'll soon close the Melbourne Zero website and social channels, as Launch continues the push to end rough sleeping.

Our work on the ground across Melbourne continues through local Advance to Zero programs embedded in Local Government Areas (LGA). Progress data from each LGA will continue to be publicly available via Launch’s website, once the campaign website is shortly decommissioned.

You’ll begin hearing from us via a bimonthly email from Launch featuring news on progress to end homelessness from across Greater Melbourne, and opportunities for you to help further.

What’s not changing?

Our work at Launch continues to bring public awareness, highlight voices of people with lived experience and encourage community action to end homelessness. So does our commitment to ending rough sleeping in Melbourne by 2030 - Launch will continue providing outreach services and backbone support to local Advance to Zero projects, and co-chairing the Victorian Alliance to End Homelessness.

What do you need to do?

Nothing, unless you no longer wish to receive updates - if so, you can unsubscribe at any time. It’s been quite a journey so far, and we hope you’ll stay connected. Your support matters more than ever as we work to scale solutions that are proven to work.

Together, we know we can end homelessness in Melbourne. Thank you for believing in a future where no one in our city sleeps rough, and for being part of progress to date across our city and beyond.

With gratitude,

Melbourne Zero at Launch Housing
